Executive I/T Architect
Years in IT—
32 (28 with IBM)
My first mainframe job—
I was an IBM MVS developer in the Allocation component; yes, I worked on the DD statement and SVC 99!
My favorite mainframe attribute—
I am continually impressed with the System z architecture and all of the built-in RAS and security. Of course, this is one of the reasons we have such high availability and such incredible longevity. Some of the functions built right down within the chips provide such high reliability that we measure mean time between failure in decades. And even with all of these continual RAS improvements, we still run applications that were written before I was even out of high school! It is a truly amazing platform, and I am very proud to have contributed to the development in my early career.
