Years in IT—
My first mainframe job—
I was a Burster Operator, which involved decollating 6-part green bar paper and bursting the sheets apart afterwards.
My favorite mainframe memory—
In late ’79 or early ’80, I attended an IBM presentation on MVS/XA. Everyone and anyone that worked in Philadelphia area IT attended. It was the place to be. Later that year, I completed work on my first Assembler (Latin of all languages) program. What a sense of accomplishment I felt at the time. It was like learning how to drive a 4-wheel drive Jeep with a manual transmission—powerful enough to climb a wall.
