Software as a Service (SaaS) provides companies with the authorization to use software or services for a period of time like a rental instead of the traditional model in which companies must buy the software, build the server, install the operating system, install the software and customize it to meet the company business and needs. Some benefits of SaaS include ease of use and perform proof of concepts, reduced time to benefit, lower costs, higher resilience, integration and scalability.
SaaS offerings already provide maintenance such as support and products upgrades, lowering costs since it usually resides in a multitenant or shared environment where many users divide hardware and software licenses costs.
Users do not have to customize too many applications, which became easier to use since SaaS providers already apply best practices in their offerings. Also, users can create other instances to test new releases and versions without any impact to their production environment.
Several types of business can leverage the advantages of SaaS. For instance, IT consulting companies that don’t want to waste time in software installation and customizations due to fixed-price contracts with low profit margin can get benefits from the SaaS model, including cost reduction, software implementation, time reduction, better tools utilization and more resilience and availability.
