IBM Destination z Partners Gather at Impact 2012

Almost 9,000 IBM clients, business partners and IBMers recently gathered in Las Vegas for Impact 2012 to consult, collaborate and learn about the latest IBM and vendor solutions that revolve around the IBM WebSphere products and services, among others.

A growing number of attendees either work on, or are interested in IBM System z solutions. As a service to this constituency, the Destination z team worked tirelessly to create the zZone at the Impact conference exhibit hall. The zZone is intended to bring System z community members together to meet each other, meet our Destination z business partner members, and to learn how they can work together to solve business problems using System z technology.

If you attended the conference, then you would have noticed the zZone as you walked in the door. The zZone consisted of five of our Destination z member partner firms, including Trident Services, GT Software, Nastel, IBM, and a new conglomerate partner called STASH, which is made up of six Destination z member companies, including Vicom Infinity, CSL-International, Intellinx, IBM, Virtual Bridges and Raytheon Trusted Computer Solutions. If you’re interested in learning more about these companies, please visit them on the IBM Destination z partner page.

As a reward to our System z community members that attend Impact and visit the zZone, for the past four years, we have run our zZingo card promotion. By simply visiting the zZone exhibitors and learning about what they have to offer, community members are entitled to a relaxing chair massage. This year’s massages were conducted to the soothing sounds of the zEnterprise 114 system running right behind the massage station. This is representative of the comfort the System z platform provides to enterprises that rely on the platform day in, day out.

Needless to say, the massage chairs also attracted people who don’t currently work on the mainframe platform, but when they left after their well-earned massage, they were certainly wiser.

We are already in the planning stages for next year’s Impact 2013 presence, so if you missed the zZone this year, make sure to join IBM Destination z at www.destinationz.org so you can get the DzInsider monthly enewsletter, which will alert you to community activities such as this.

We hope to see you soon at a conference near you!
